This was my weekend project:
Yes, that is a Christmas card and it is two weeks late (but it does say "Happy New Year" too...). It was kind of a spur of the moment decision to send Christmas cards (maybe slightly encouraged by the fact that they were 40% off post-Christmas) and I don't love the ornament design (it was the only card that send Merry Christmas and Happy New Year). I also (finally) finished my wedding thank yous...please don't judge me that I mailed some of them with the Christmas cards....
Sunday's outfit: This mustard skirt along with this mauve blush one were two 'investment pieces' (at 50% off) for my 'work' wardrobe. Yes, grey and black would have probably been more versatile, but aren't mauve and mustard more fun? I love mustard and grey or ivory, but I'm also finding that it works well with pale pink/peach, burgundy, and mint...
Linking up with Fine Linen and Purple for What I Wore Sunday!
Clothesline in the background....oops |
Still trying to master the 'looking down' photo...not quite succeeding |
I couldn't make it too long without my new North Pole coat... |
Grey cowl and mustard pencil (similar skirt here): J. Crew
Boots: Famous Footwear (I waterproofed them...but still not so practical for winter)
Coat: Lands End (Christmas gift from my parents...temp rated to 40 degrees below zero!)
I may need to do some shopping at J.Crew. The coat, I think, makes the outfit! Very cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was surprised how the coat ended up going with it :) Mustard and burgundy is a fun combo!
DeleteThat skirt and sweater combo looks lovely and snug, and I love the color pop the yellow brings!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love mustard yellow and that coat compliments it perfectly.

Totally agree that colors are better than neutrals for work skirts and dresses! You can always add a quieter top, like you did--loving your look, Erika!
ReplyDeleteOoh, love every piece. Funny how everyone seems to be trying to master that down-cast glace thing :-) Camp Patton fever!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so cozy! I love your look, especially that yellow skirt! :)
ReplyDeleteI adore the length and color of the skirt. Really classy!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! LOL, and I totally don't judge your late Christmas cards... I'm pretty sure a bunch of us were this year. I know I was too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Mustard is the best...and thanks for not judging :) It actually makes it tons easier because you have the addresses from the Christmas cards people of sent you!
DeleteLove love love the mustard and gray combo! And the boots, and the coat.
ReplyDeleteLove it! You are so brave with the mustard yellow, but you totally pull it off! Your Christmas/New Years cards are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI totally mailed out wedding thank yous with Christmas cards a few years back, and our wedding was in June. Whoops.
ReplyDeleteI really prefer cold-weather fashion to warm-weather fashion. I'm interested to see how everyone dresses as the temperatures go up. I love your outfit because it looks warm without adding bulk to your silhouette. It can be difficult to look elegant when trying to stay warm, and you pulled it off!
Thank you!! And I feel much better about our thank yous :) The important thing is that they are sent, I guess!
Deletemauve and mustard - definitely more fun!! I love this skirt and love it even more with the plumy color of your coat!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! The mauve and the mustard are definitely more fun! I really need to inject more color into my bland wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI love it all. I'm always afraid of mustard but this looks great. I need to shop J.Crew. Seriously!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! Love the colors together!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful, Erika!
ReplyDeleteLove how you pulled off that bright yellow skirt in winter.
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt! Such a fun color.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up! I love the outfit and will be featuring it in tomorrow's link party.
