Stephen and I haven't seen a lot of each other the last two months. His job requires 14 hour shifts, 7 days in a row, and when he wasn't working, I was at my rural medicine site a couple hours away. I had a week off before I start my next rotation and so Stephen wanted to go somewhere for a little getaway. We settled on Niagara Falls since Stephen had never seen them, and we stayed at the Marriott Fallsview in a room overlooking over the falls (absolutely beautiful, albeit pricey). As much as we are able, we want to make time for a little getaway together every year. I think that it's something that really strengthens a marriage.
One of the things that Stephen and I have learned after being apart during much of my first two years of medical school is to really cherish the time that we do get to spend together. We enjoyed every minute of this last week: catching up on life, laughing about the most random things, praying the rosary together, talking about the future, cuddling together while we watched movies, getting to sleep in the same bed every night, etc. We'll be together this next month before I have to leave for my away electives in July and August (Obstetrics in St. Louis and then an Emergency Medicine elective) and I'm sure that it will go way too fast...
Sharing 7 pics from our getaway (and joining Jen, even though it's Saturday).
1. The Falls! (And my favorite jacket).
3. Even though this was my fifth time seeing Niagara Falls, I had never done the 'Journey behind the falls' where you can walk to a viewing point right next to the falls and also take a tunnel to see behind the falls (we are total tourists, but it was really cool).
5. Colorful fountain (and I love mint with white).
6. The Falls at night.
looks like you had a great time! and honestly reading that you guys have been apart for most of your med schooling gives me hope for when I start mine. I leave in less than 2 weeks :(
